Amboseli 3-day safari from Diani

Amboseli National Park, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, is known for its large elephant herds and open landscapes. This safari starts at your Diani hotel and takes you inland by road, with two nights near the park and a full day of game drives in between.

How the trip works

Day one is mainly a driving day: an early start from Diani, the Mombasa–Nairobi highway through the Tsavo region, and arrival at your lodge or camp, with a game drive in the afternoon if time allows. Day two is a full day in Amboseli, with morning and afternoon game drives. Day three is the drive back to the coast, usually arriving in the evening. Timings depend on traffic and the route.

What you may see

Elephants are the highlight, along with buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo in the swamps and a large number of birds. Kilimanjaro is often hidden by cloud during the day and is most likely to show in the early morning or evening. Sightings and views are never guaranteed.

    Day 1 – Diani to Amboseli

    Early pickup at your Diani hotel and a long drive inland along the Mombasa–Nairobi highway towards Amboseli. Check in at your lodge or camp, with an afternoon game drive if time allows.

    Day 2 – Full day in Amboseli

    Morning and afternoon game drives across the plains and swamps, with a lunch break and time to rest.

    Day 3 – Return to Diani

    A morning game drive or a relaxed start, then the drive back to the coast and your Diani hotel.

Can you collect us from our Diani hotel?

Yes. Tell us your hotel and we confirm the pickup time when you book. Hotels in Ukunda, Galu Kinondo and Tiwi can be collected too.

Are animal sightings guaranteed?

No. Wildlife is wild and sightings vary with season, weather and luck. Your driver-guide knows where to look and plans game drives around the best light.

Will we see Mount Kilimanjaro?

Often, but not always. Clouds usually hide the summit during the day, and the clearest views are in the early morning and late afternoon. We cannot promise a view, but your guide will point out the best moments.
