Tsavo West and Amboseli: a three-day safari from Voi

This route links two very different parks. Tsavo West has springs, lava flows and rocky hills; Amboseli has open plains, swamps, big elephant herds and views of Mount Kilimanjaro when the cloud lifts. It starts in Voi and can finish at Emali, which is convenient if you are heading on to Nairobi.

The route

Day one begins in Voi with a transfer to Tsavo West and an afternoon game drive. Day two is the move to Amboseli by the route and gate that suit current road and park conditions, with a game drive on arrival. Day three is a morning game drive in Amboseli, then the transfer to Emali, Mtito Andei or back to Voi.

Good to know

Kilimanjaro is often clearest early in the morning and depends on weather. Day two has the longest drive. Park fees, accommodation and meals are itemised in your written quote.

    Morning game drive, then transfer to Amboseli by the route that suits current conditions, with an afternoon game drive.

Can we start the safari straight from the SGR?

Yes. Tell us your train and arrival time and we meet you at Voi station and transfer you to the safari vehicle or park gate. Please check your service’s timetable and the stations it stops at when you book.

Where can the safari finish?

Back in Voi, at Mtito Andei or at Emali, so you can continue by SGR, bus or private transport to Nairobi or Mombasa. Tell us your onward travel time and we plan around it.

Can we finish at Emali and take the SGR to Nairobi?

Yes, many guests do. Tell us your train time and we plan the last day around it. Please confirm your service stops at Emali when you book your ticket.

Are animal sightings guaranteed?

No. Wildlife is wild and sightings vary with season, weather and luck. Your driver-guide knows where to look and plans game drives around the best light.
