Overview

Tsavo East day safari from Voi

Voi is the closest town to Tsavo East’s Voi Gate, which makes it the easiest starting point for a one-day safari. Arrive on the SGR, step off a bus or shuttle on the Mombasa–Nairobi route, or drive in yourself, and your driver-guide meets you in Voi and takes you straight into the park.

How the day works

Meet in Voi at the SGR station, in town or at our Voi office near the Voi Curio Shop. After the transfer to the gate, the day is spent on game drives across the plains and waterholes near Voi, with a break for lunch and time to rest before the afternoon drive. You are back in Voi in time for your onward train, bus or drive. Exact timing depends on your arrival time and the season.

What you may see

Tsavo East is known for large elephant herds that look red from the dust, as well as buffalo, giraffe, zebra, lion and a wide range of birds. Sightings are never guaranteed.

Good to know

Park fees, lunch and the vehicle are itemised in your written quote. Tell us your arrival method and times when you book so the day can be timed around your train or bus.

We are coming by bus or shuttle. Where do we meet?

Ask to be dropped in Voi town. We meet you at the stop or at our Voi office near the Voi Curio Shop, about 1 km before Voi Main Gate, depending on your arrival time.

Can we drive our own vehicle to Voi?

Yes. You can drive to our Voi office and continue with our driver-guide. Ask us about parking for the length of the safari, or let us collect you instead.
