Five days through Tsavo East, Salt Lick, Tsavo West and Amboseli, from Voi

The five-day circuit covers the same four destinations as the four-day trip with an extra night so each transfer is shorter and there is more time in the parks. It starts in Voi and finishes in Voi, Mtito Andei or Emali.

The route

Two game-drive days in and around Tsavo East and Salt Lick, a full day in Tsavo West, the transfer to Amboseli with an afternoon game drive, and a final morning drive in Amboseli before you head to your finish point.

Arrival and finish

Join in Voi from the SGR, a bus or shuttle, or your own vehicle. At the end, continue from Emali or Mtito Andei by train, bus or private transport, or return to Voi.

    Day 1 – Voi to Tsavo East

    Meet in Voi and enter Tsavo East by Voi Gate for a game drive. Overnight at a lodge or camp.

    Day 2 – Tsavo East and Salt Lick

    Morning game drive, then Salt Lick for the afternoon and an evening at the waterhole.

  3. 3

    Day 3 – Tsavo West

    Transfer to Tsavo West and spend the day on game drives and highlights such as Mzima Springs when open.

    Day 4 – Tsavo West to Amboseli

    Morning game drive, then transfer to Amboseli by the route that suits current conditions, with an afternoon game drive.

    Day 5 – Amboseli and finish

    Early game drive with Kilimanjaro views if clear, then transfer to Emali, Mtito Andei or back to Voi.

Frequently asked questions

Can we start the safari straight from the SGR?

Yes. Tell us your train and arrival time and we meet you at Voi station and transfer you to the safari vehicle or park gate. Please check your service’s timetable and the stations it stops at when you book.

We are coming by bus or shuttle. Where do we meet?

Ask to be dropped in Voi town. We meet you at the stop or at our Voi office near the Voi Curio Shop, about 1 km before Voi Main Gate, depending on your arrival time.

Can we drive our own vehicle to Voi?

Yes. You can drive to our Voi office and continue with our driver-guide. Ask us about parking for the length of the safari, or let us collect you instead.

Where can the safari finish?

Back in Voi, at Mtito Andei or at Emali, so you can continue by SGR, bus or private transport to Nairobi or Mombasa. Tell us your onward travel time and we plan around it.

Are animal sightings guaranteed?

No. Wildlife is wild and sightings vary with season, weather and luck. Your driver-guide knows where to look and plans game drives around the best light.
