How the three days work

Day one covers Tsavo East, with game drives across its open plains before an overnight at a lodge or tented camp. Day two is the transfer to Amboseli, arriving in time for an afternoon game drive; Amboseli's swamps hold water even in the dry season and draw large elephant herds, along with buffalo, hippo and a wide range of birdlife. Day three is a final Amboseli game drive, often timed for the clearest Kilimanjaro views, before the return drive to the coast.

About the Kilimanjaro views

Amboseli is one of the best places in Kenya to photograph elephants with Kilimanjaro in the background, though the mountain is frequently wrapped in cloud, especially from midday onward — early morning offers the best chance of a clear view, and it cannot be guaranteed on any given day.
