Amboseli is one of the shortest proper safaris out of Nairobi — roughly four hours' drive — which makes this 3-day, 2-night itinerary a practical choice if you want a genuine game-viewing safari without committing a full week. The park's permanent swamps hold water year-round, drawing some of Kenya's largest elephant herds, often photographed with Mount Kilimanjaro behind them.

How the three days work

Day one is the drive from Nairobi with a game drive on arrival. Day two is a full day in the park, with morning and afternoon drives either side of the midday heat. Day three is an early game drive — the best window for a clear Kilimanjaro view — before the return to Nairobi.
