Amboseli in three days, by air

Amboseli is one of the closest big parks to Nairobi, but the road drive is still around four hours each way. Flying from Wilson Airport takes under an hour, so a three-day trip becomes almost three full days of game viewing — the park's permanent swamps draw some of Kenya's largest elephant herds, often photographed with Mount Kilimanjaro behind them.

How the three days work

Day one starts with a transfer to Wilson Airport and the short flight to Amboseli's airstrip, where you are met and taken to your lodge for lunch before an afternoon game drive. Day two is a full day in the park, ideally beginning with a sunrise drive, since early morning gives the best chance of a clear Kilimanjaro view. Day three includes a final game drive where the flight schedule allows, then the flight back to Wilson Airport.

Getting there by air

Flights are scheduled light-aircraft services with strict baggage allowances — commonly around 15 kg per person in a soft-sided bag, confirmed with your booking. Because flights land at Wilson Airport rather than JKIA and schedules can shift with weather, we suggest not booking a tight same-day international connection.

Kilimanjaro is often cloud-covered, especially later in the day, so a clear view can never be guaranteed.     Day 1 – Fly Nairobi to Amboseli

    Transfer to Wilson Airport for the short flight to Amboseli, met at the airstrip and taken to your lodge for lunch, then an afternoon game drive.

    Day 2 – Full day in Amboseli

    A sunrise game drive for the best chance of clear Kilimanjaro views, with further drives through the day. An optional Maasai community visit can be added at extra cost.

    Day 3 – Final game drive and fly to Nairobi

    A game drive where the flight schedule allows, then the airstrip transfer and flight back to Wilson Airport, with onward transfer to your hotel or JKIA.
