Our Safari leaves Mombasa and drives north towards the vast wilderness of Tsavo East, Kenya's oldest and largest park. We arrive for lunch at Red Elephant Safari Camp. After lunch we spend the afternoon exploring the park where we can expect to see elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, kudu, zebra and hartebeest. Dinner and overnight at Red Elephant Safari Camp/Ndololo Safari tented Camp.
After early breakfast leave Tsavo East with game drive en-route and cross into Tsavo West National Park. Game drive to Ngulia Safari Camp arriving in time for lunch. Our afternoon game drive includes a visit to Mzima springs. Dinner and overnight at Ngulia Safari Camp.
Tsavo West National Park
The 9, 065 square kilometers park is located 260km west of Mombasa. The savannah ecosystem comprises of open grasslands, scrub lands, and acacia woodlands and belts of riverine vegetation and rocky ridges. Major wildlife attractions include elephant, rhino, hippos, lions, cheetah, leopards, buffalos, diverse plant and bird species including the threatened corncrake and near threatened Basra Reed Warbler. Volcanoes, lava flows and caves offer cave exploration, hiking and other outdoor activities. A visit to Mzima Springs to watch underwater hippo and fish is an added attraction
After breakfast we drive through the park across the Shatani Plains (a creation of the lava flows when Mt Kilimanjaro was an active volcano) and enter Amboseli National Park with game drives en-route to the lodge (Amboseli). Evening game drive, return to your lodge/campsite for dinner and overnight.
An early morning game drive is recommended before breakfast. The snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro makes a very photogenic background to the animals. After breakfast return to Mombasa via Emali/Sultan Hamud onto Nairobi-Mombasa highway with picnic lunch en-route. Arriving late afternoon.
