This trip offers you a unique opportunity to relax and enjoy the truly unspoilt Kenya coast, the beautiful vistas over turquoise seas to the ecologically remarkable mangrove islands and a genuine ethnic experience amongst the local Shirazi people. You will be collected from your southcoast hotel at 8 a.m. and driven 40 Kms. South through coconut and cashewnut plantations to Bodo beach where the crew of the Arabian dhows await you. From here you will cruise through Funzi creek, one of the most untouched areas in Kenya, passing uninhabited islands and natural mangrove forests.

On Funzi Island a visit will be made to the historic fishing village which was formerly a major slave trading point and the ruins of the previous civilization which can still be seen. We shall also visit the village school, a private house and the market place where you may buy locally made souvenirs such as woven mats and straw hats.

From the island we continue to a unique sandbar which emerges from the sea at low tide and on the way we may be lucky enough to see dolphins. Here you will be able to swim or simply wander over the pure white sand of this mysterious island sited in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

We sail to the uninhabited island of Kinazini where delicious barbeque lunch catering for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians awaits you. After lunch you may simply relax on famous Lamu beds, explore the island or just swimming in the ocean off the private beach. In the late afternoon we cruise through this magic world back to Bodo where your transport awaits you to return you to your hotel by 6 p.m.
